That’s right, it’s time again for #RomComBracket!
Will this finally be the year for your fav to take the title? Will there be tears? Will we stretch the definition of “romcom” yet again? Yes to all.
If you aren’t familiar with this, it’s a fun romantic comedy themed bracket I created and single-handedly coordinated on social media since 2018! Scroll down for more details on how it works and how you can vote.
Here are the important dates for 2021’s RomComBracket:
February 12: The bracket will be dropped on social media (and linked in this post).
February 12-14: #RomComBracket movie party! Join myself and other RomCom enthusiasts for a special virtual movie party on Twitter. More below!
February 20: IG Live at 4 p.m. PST with Excessively Diverted on Strategizing Your Bracket
February 22: Voting begins! This will happen on my Twitter feed as a thread of Twitter polls.
March: Stay tuned for more virtual events, livetweets and more.
#RomComBracket Movie Party!
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend than hanging out on Twitter with your favorite RomCom enthusiasts for a special virtual movie party? Over three days we will watch the past three winners from the comfort of our homes, while livetweeting the films using #RomComBracket to participate and interact with others!
February 12, 5 p.m. PST: Princess Bride
February 13, 6 p.m. PST: 10 Things I Hate About You
February 14, 6 p.m. PST: Clueless
Here’s how it works:
I start a nomination thread for romcoms to include in the bracket. There are 64 slots to be filled, which is a lot, but also means not everything will make it into the bracket, sorry!
I will create a bracket based on the top-recommended films, and you can start filling it out as soon as you see it on social media!
When the voting period starts, I will post polls on Twitter starting February 22, 2021. The polls last for 24 hours. Vote to get your favorite through. This voting process will repeat until the end!
When it’s over, we will have a livetweet watch party for the winning movie.
Use the hashtag #RomComBracket to be part of the conversation.
How do you participate?
Just follow the hashtag #RomComBracket on Twitter and have fun!
How do I choose positions?
Naturally some themes show up in suggestions that turn into categories. Then I try to shuffle titles around and tweak them for spacing (and fun).
